Italy, or more specific the Brianza region is where we started our journey. Our first designers, our first collection, our engineers, the manufacturing were all in Brianza. However, our entire first collection never saw the light of day, because it couldn’t deliver on our vision.
Brianza is renowned for it's furniture industry, for the generations of craftsmen, for the skills, the allure, etc., but we noticed that our commitment to making the highest quality products with a relentless commitment to sustainability cannot be reached here.
To deliver on our vision, we persevered until we found the right partners, renowned design studios from all over the world, craftsman from Italy, Japan and the Nordics, sustainability organisations, etc. with whom to partner and achieve our goal.
All the knowledge gathered from the collaborative cross-frontier, cross-culture effort was infused in Spalli and we created our own development & manufacturing centre in Romania, where we could deliver on our strict quality and sustainability standards.
Now, few years later, Spalli is proving that you don't have to compromise on style to fulfill the sustainability vision.
All the wood that we use, comes from sustainable forestry, where nature is looked after and the workers in the forests have decent working conditions.
We don't use any particleboards or fibreboard (MDF, etc.) in our furniture.
In finishing our wood surfaces, we don't use any varnish, lacquers or any other products that contain chemicals and release volatile organic compounds.
We use natural oils, without any chemicals, which use molecular bonding to provide durable and long lasting protection
In 2020, we obtained the ISO 14001:2015 certification, an internationally recognized benchmark that formally validates our environmental sustainability framework and commitments towards our sustainability vision which includes our three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social and governance.
As part of our Social Sustainability framework, the Fair Labor & Compensation program is of crucial importance, as people are at the heart of all matters. We are committed to fair compensation and, at Spalli, we ensure that the discretionary income is at least 30% of the compensation package.
